Last January, I joined the 1st Greentennial Run with a friend. For a new name in the running world, Greentennial sure did not disappoint me. It was a clean run with lots of activities to do afterward! Because of the success of this run, several runners asked if they could organize another run, and so they did. But just before they finished it, the tragedies in Japan happened which led them to organize a run for the benefit of the victims of Japan. They only had a few days to prepare for Run for Japan but it was more organized and fun than many other long-planned races I joined in the past. Which leads me to their 3rd and upcoming run….

THE GREENTENNIAL HALF MARATHON!

When: May 22, 2011

Where: Aseana City (near MOA)

Race Categories: 3K/5K/10K/16K/21K

It just keeps getting BIGGER and BETTER with every run! and the best part is that there will be NO INCREASE in the registration fee! Instead, their promos to help save a few hundreds just keep coming! Registration fee is still at 500 pesos for all categories… MOREOVER, you get to choose whether you’d like to run with a long back singlet or running shirt! (photos taken from the Greentennial FB page)

What to expect during the run:

  • Photo contest! Professional and amateur photographers will be all around taking photos of runners! The best photo and the lucky runner in the photo will be given cash prizes! Woot woot!
  • More showers! More jumpshots! More freebies and loot bags!
  • If they gave medals to the top 50 finishers for each category in the first Greentennial run, this time, they are giving medals for ALL FINISHERS! WOW!!! As for the top 50.. they pushed it up a notched and decided to reward not just the top 50, but the top 100 per category with a FINISHER’S SHIRT!!

R.O.X. Bonifacio Global City

Online registration via RunnersRunner

The Greentennial Half Marathon is done for the benefit of Epheta Home for the Blind. I tried finding what Ephpheta meant and this is what I came across in wikipilipinas:

“Ephpheta Foundation for the Blind, Inc., “Ephpheta” is an ancient Aramabic word meaning “Be Opened”. A rehabilitation and skills training program for visually-impaired persons; blindness prevention program and other services – Diliman, Quezon City.

Its goal is to improve the quality of life of the blind and to make them productive members of the Philippines society. The training programs it has introduced has been geared toward the development of the blind person physically, intellectually, morally and spiritually.”

So what are you waiting for guys??? Go register now!!!
