Press Release

Nike Women’s Race Series and N+TC Tour set course to major cities around the world such as Toronto, London and Hong Kong in 2015. .

With the new year underway, Nike introduces fresh motivation for women looking for a challenge with the new Nike Women’s Event Series.  The series — which includes the Nike Women’s Race Series and N+TC Tour — invites more than 200,000 women around the world to celebrate and experience the power of sport through a series of one-of-a-kind, high-energy running and training events.

The series kicks off March 8 with the Nagoya Women’s Marathon and N+TC Tour Shanghai and wraps this fall with the Nike Women’s Half Marathon San Francisco.

EXPANDING THE VISION

“We started over a decade ago with the inaugural Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, and now the Nike Women’s Event Series is expanding that vision to bring the inspiration and camaraderie we find at local races and gyms to women all over the world,” says running legend Joan Benoit Samuelson, winner of the first-ever Olympic gold medal in women’s marathon. “The Nike Women’s Race Series motivates women to achieve personal running goals, and N+TC Tour offers challenge, variety and reward for athletes at any level. The choices and access for women who love sport and fitness are better than ever with the announcement of the Nike Women’s Event Series.”

These best-in-class apps combine the power of Nike’s 65-million-women strong social community with the expertise of Nike’s top trainers.

NIKE WOMEN’S RACE SERIES

The Nike Women’s Race Series will be the world’s largest race series designed for women. The races motivate runners of all levels to push their limits by offering a variety of distances — ranging from 5k to half-marathon — on epic courses in 20 cities around the world including Toronto, London and Hong Kong.

In addition to uniting a global community of female runners, every race offers something different, including exciting new courses; runner services; and access to elite athletes, music and local cultural connections. Amongst the

details designed specifically for women, runners completing each race will earn a custom finisher necklace distinctive to their city.

N+TC TOUR

Nike+ Training Club Tour is an impressive, fun five-hour training challenge led by Nike Master Trainers and other top trainers in 12 cities from Shanghai to Stockholm. The tour joins women together around the world under the common goal of crushing the workout and introduces them to new fitness experiences and communities.

Each N+TC Tour stop combines workouts ranging from Nike+ Training Club, Tabata intervals, yoga, spinning and boot camp-type drills designed to test the athlete’s fitness limits in a high-energy environment. For example, women might experience an opening performance and 45-minute Nike+ Training Club workout, followed by small group breakout fitness rotations, and closing with an unforgettable performance and celebration moment. No two N+TC Tour stops will be exactly the same workout, and athletes will be able to access training programs by following @nikewomen or downloading the Nike+ Training Club App.

BRINGING TOGETHER A GLOBAL FITNESS COMMUNITY

The Nike Women’s Event Series extends Nike’s vision to motivate, inspire and connect athletes within a global community of sport through both physical events and digital connections.

The Nike+ Running App helps runners track their workouts and stay inspired throughout their training. The app tracks distance, pace, time, calories and NikeFuel and includes motivational options such as social media sharing; real-time audio feedback; the option to select a Nike+ PowerSong for an extra push; and the chance to compete in Nike+ Challenges against friends.

The Nike+ Training Club App includes more than 100 full body workouts designed by Nike Master Trainers, many of whom will participate in the N+TC Tour. The N+TC App for women has already been downloaded more than 16 million times, in 94 percent of the countries in the world. The app now features new, easier and more fun ways for her to connect with friends to encourage them and share her own successes and goals, including photo sharing on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The all-new Nike Sport Feed helps her stay engaged with her friends as well as the broader N+TC App community.
