Have you done your part to save the dolphins?

WHAT: CONDURA SKYWAY MARATHON

WHEN: FEBRUARY 6, 2011

WHERE:
10km, 16km and 21km : Ayala Triangle Start and Finish at Bonifacio Global City
3km, 5km and 42k : Bonifacio Global City Start and Finish

The Condura Marathon has been going on for around 3 years if I’m not mistaken, so next year’s skyway marathon will be the fourth! I got really excited upon hearing the news of a fourth Condura run and rushed to the registration outlet as soon as possible. You see, I started running in 2009, but I only got addicted to it in 2010. So I missed all the Condura runs, and next year’s run will be my first time running for Condura.

I did some reading and I came across a blog by RunningPinoy. I have been reading his blog for quite some time and let me allow to share some of his insights on the run.

“The formerly named Condura Run had always prided itself with raising funds for a good cause ever since its conception in 2008.  That year, Condura was able to donate ₱109,200 from “Race for Tubbataha” for the purchase of radios for park rangers of Tubbataha Reefs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The following year was the “Run for the Whale Sharks” of Donsol, Sorsogon, and through the ABS-CBN Foundation was able to donate ₱365,350 for the construction of facilities for eco-tourism.  This year, the “Run for the Dolphins” of Pamilacan, Bohol generated a donation pool from 8,500 participants amounting to ₱511,400 for the construction of Condura Wharf for easy and safe boarding of boats for dolphin watching.”

Next year will be another run for the dolphins, and being the animal lover that I am… I really can’t wait to help out and do my part! I’m no pro runner yet, I usually just run 5km and have my occasional 10km runs. I wanted to run 10km for this… but… being that this run will be on the skyways, I think I’ll stick to my usual 5km for the meantime! I still want to break my PR first before moving on to the next distance category.

So anyways, if you want to register, I suggest you do it before slots run out! GO GO GO!

There will be five (5) Race categories.

  • 3km – PHP 550
  • 5km – PHP 750
  • 10km – PHP 950
  • 16km – PHP 1,050
  • 21km – PHP 1,150
  • 42km – PHP 1,250

I know it’s kinda pricey but PHP 50 of your registration fee will be used as your donation. Besides that, every runner will also get the following:

  • Dri-Fit Technical Shirt
  • Finisher’s Medal
  • D-tag Timing

I love my shirt!

Oh, and you will also get a Hershey’s chocolate bar during registration, and a lot more of other freebies during the run itself!

So what are you waiting for? Head on down to Greenbelt 3, in front of Asics at the ground floor and do your part in saving the dolphins! Registration is open until January 31, 2011 or until slots run out!
