This morning, thousands of runners flocked to BGC with their buddies to participate in the much awaited Robinson’s Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run. I was among those runners who was extremely excited for this race! I first joined the Wellness Run back in 2010 and have made sure to register every year since then. Every year marked a milestone for Robinsons Supermarket, and I have to say, they outdid themselves in terms of the loot bag this year. (more on that later)

On its 7th year, Robinsons Supermarket made sure to continue making running and keeping healthy twice as fun by requiring runners to start and finish their race with their buddy. Not only does the buddy run make running more fun, but it gives us an excuse to run with a family member, friend, love one, or maybe even your crush! (ayiheee!!) The run  hopes to continue encouraging people t engage in healthier activities, in line with the supermarket’s I Love Wellness campaign.

“We organize the Fit & Fun Buddy Run every year not only to promote health and wellness but also to strengthen the bond for family and friends,” said Jody Gadia, Robinsons Supermarket genereal manager.

The race went pretty smooth, starting at 32nd street and going around BGC before going up Kalayaan flyover. There was ample amount of hydration, both water and Powerade – not too much, but just right for runners running 10k or 5k. After all, we don’t want to overhydrate right? After crossing the finish line, runners got what they looked forward to most in joining this run…. the humongous loot bag!

Runners lining up to claim their loot bag

Each finisher got a whole bag of grocery items from Robinsons Supermarket! Earlier, I mentioned that Robinsons Supermarket outdid themselves in terms of loot bag. I’m not exactly sure if there were more items this year or last year, however, the quality of the items this year was a whole lot better! In the past years, most of the items in the loot bag consisted of brands I was unfamiliar with. This year, most of the products were from brands we have grown to love such as Johnson’s, Colgate, Gatorade, Summit, Dove, Surf, etc. There was not a sad face in sight!

Besides the already overflowing loot bag, there were even more freebies that awaited participants after the run. Sponsors had their own tents and booths and gave away free samples of their products such as hotdogs, sandwiches, drinks and more. Breakfast to go? hehe

There was a LOT of people but we still had a LOT of fun!

There was even a short zumba number happening on stage. A bunch of the runners followed and burned even more carbs from their workout. The guy on stage had the moves too! Nice!

And lastly, top pair finisher’s were awarded by the Robinson’’s Supermarket officials. 5k winners won a trip to Coron, Palawan while 10k winners bagged a trip for two to Phuket, Thailand. 2nd to 5th finishers received Robinsons Gift Certificates as consolation prizes. Special awards and gifts packs were also given by event sponsors Nestle and Unilever to outstanding race buddies.

This pair won the special award for mommy and child pair.

The Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run is one of the series of events held annually by the largest health and wellness retail chain Robinsons Supermarket, as part of its I Love Wellness campaign.
