Whoever you are reading this post, I’m sure you’ve heard of the famous 24hr. convenient store 7-Eleven… who hasn’t? It’s in every single corner of every single street and even sometimes serves as the landmark of residential units. We grew up with the convenience of having a 24-hour convenience store like 7-eleven around to “provide” us with our everyday needs.

I see 7-Eleven so much that I’ve even seen corners with two 7-Eleven shops across each other. .. yep, THAT’s how big it is! In fact last July 11,they opened their FIRST store in Cebu!  They had the Tour 700, The Philippines’ biggest bike race event held last May 13, and just a few months later, 7-eleven celebrates it’s soon to open 800th store with Run 800!

Run 800 Wave start/ Gun start:

Wave Starts have been adapted from the New York Marathon to give runners a better running experience. Here’s how it works: runners of approximately the same caliber are grouped together in a pack of up to 5,000 runners. “Waves” are released at set time intervals. This prevents slamming into other runners caused by crowding especially in high volume races joined by 20,000- 50,000 runners. Being guided with wave start times also help in reducing waiting times.

With the 7-Eleven Wave Start system, runners can even choose which wave they want to start in. This gives more flexibility for runners instead of being automatically sorted by the system. Runners can choose to run with their friends or family, or choose to run competitively.

Run 800 Prizes for Top Finishers:

So besides the cash prizes, the TOP 3 Filipino Male and TOP 3 Filipino Female finishers of the 21k category will also be sponsored to join the Macau International Marathon. These winners need to be Filipinos! Hence, if the top 3 finishers happen to be Kenyan, they are only entitled to the cash prize and not the marathon sponsorship. If the first FILIPINO happened to be in the 10th place, then he still gets the marathon sponsorship.

Run 800 Advocacy: Takbo para sa Kalusugan

As Run 800 is a way of celebrating the opening of its 800th store, 7-Eleven also aims to give back to the communities it serves with its advocacy “Takbo para sa Kalusugan” (Run for Health) wherein cities within Luzon (where 7-Eleven stores are located) have a chance of receiving support for its feeding programs and medical missions.

Three (3) top cities by votes will receive support in kind equivalent to cash prizes to be donated by 7-Eleven – a total of 800,000 pesos! First place will get 400,000 pesos worth, second place will get 300,000 pesos worth and third place will get 100,000 worth of food and medical supplies.

Votes will be tallied daily as registrations are completed. Only paid registrations are counted for the votes. The feeding and medical programs to be awarded to winning cities will be facilitated by PhilSeven Foundation, Philippine Seven Corporation’s corporate social responsibility arm.

**** A message from the 7-11 team regarding postponing the race:

7-Eleven Run 800 has been postponed. Heavy rains brought about by the recent typhoon have delayed ongoing maintenance works on the CAVITEX.

We ask for your understanding as the safety of our participants is our foremost priority. In addition, it we intend to stay true to our promise to give our runners the best possible race experience they deserve.

Rest assured that those who cannot join the race on the new date will be refunded their Registration Fee. To apply for a refund, please visit www.run711.com/refund
