I was really eager to be part of the Adobo Run After Dark 2012 and had my entire day set to run my first 16k at night! However, after a long and tiring day, I got into a small accident which resulted to an injury just hours before gun start. I still wanted to run and immediately put on my running shoes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t bear the pain and ended up being a spectator for the night. So here’s a recap of the Adobo Run After Dark 2012 from the eyes of a spectator.

10K Runners waiting for their gun start.

Marshals and organizers scattered throughout the event to make sure that all things are set into place and to attend runner’s concerns and problems.

Toilets can be easily located by the help of this.

Signages and directions were provided to guide the people out there inside the area. And these things are very helpful. You can’t really be lost.

These obstacles remind me of the recently concluded Men’s Health Urbanathlon.

McDonald’s, one of Adobo Run After Dark 2012’s sponsors, prepared an obstacle course-like mini game  for runners to try out before or after they run, exciting prizes await!

Friendly and approachable staff at the Loot Bag area.

Enough supply of loot bags and no long line of runners can be seen at the said area, really great!

Fairies, Luigi and Mario, Monsters.

Awesome runners who dressed up and wore the costume of their choice, portray the character they love, and gave their beautiful smile to anyone who asks for a photo op. Creepy, wacky, creative, name it! I wonder who among them won the Best in Costume.

Spectacular performances of the bands chilled off the night! Plus the free flowing beer made several runners really enjoy their night out with friends.  What makes Adobo Run After Dark 2012 different from most runs or night runs was definitely the music, the beer, the random singing, friends, after- party and most importantly running for a cause! That was superb! Runners really gone wild! LOL

And for my husband’s thoughts and personal experience. “It was indeed a nice run. I like the idea of fireworks during the gun start , it makes me feel enthusiastic, it adds energy and excitement.  Marshals can be seen anywhere, proper lighting at the route, enough hydration, and a party after. Overall, I loved it.”

Adobo Run After Dark 2012 made our day… or should I say our night? It’s so sad that I messed up and wasn’t able to run. Well, I’m looking forward for Adobo Run After Dark 2013!

What about you guys? What’s your Adobo Run After Dark 2012 story? I’d love to read all about it!
