Kids LOVE candy! And as much as we want them to stay healthy, a little junk food and sweets (in my personal opinion) is fine. I mean, it IS part of growing up… at least it was for me. Recently however, I learned of this new treat that’s a tad bit healthier than most candies as it is not only made of real fruit juice, but rich in antioxidant and Vitamin C. Oooh, interesting right?

In 1898, Alexander Gimbal founded the Gimbal Candy Kitchen in bustling downtown San Francisco. Today, Gimbal’s has grown bigger and bigger with a variety of different candies, one being their gourmet jelly beans which they boast to be made of REAL fruit juice. Nice!

Besides being made with real fruit juice, Gimbal’s Gourmet Jelly Beans also claim to be a good source of antioxidants and vitamin C! While nothing can replace vitamins from real fruits and vegetables, this will surely help “trick” kids into taking their daily dose. One of my favorite things about Gimbal’s is that their candies are produced and packed in facilities that are free from the eight major food allergens which include peanuts, tree nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc), eggs, fish, shellfish, wheat, soybeans and milk.

The fact that these ingredients are not allowed in our facilities is important.  Even though an allergenic food may not specifically be included in the recipe or on a package ingredient listing, some people are so highly allergic that even sharing production and packaging equipment with other products that happen to include these specific allergenic foods can result in an allergic reaction.

Reyna, Jaden’s mom also tried a few of these delicious candies. Here’s what she has to say, “They were really good and true to their flavor. My favorite one was the ice cream cake, it reminded me of eating a piece of cake! LOL”

Gimbal’s Gourmet Jelly Beans has 41 delicious flavors for you to try including some of my favorites – ice cream cake, green apple and lime. More than just the yummy flavors, kids can also use these treats and turn them into an educational game as they learn the different colors.

Each 14 oz. bag of Gimbal’s Gourmet Jelly Beans is priced at $4.49 (price varies among product/size) and can be purchased in several stores nationwide including Walgreens and Hobby Lobby. More details below.

So go grab a pack and try them out! They’d be perfect for Halloween! If you’ve already had some, do leave a comment and share what you thought of it. Happy eating! :)
