Sometime last week, I was invited to the media launch of the third leg of the RunRio Manila series… I wanted so badly to go but already had prior commitments on that day. Still, I decided to write about it and share what I do know based on what I’ve read on various blogs and articles! :)

You can run for free any time and any where… so whenever you register for a run that asks for a high price.. remember to ask, “WHAT’S THE CAUSE?” or “WHO IS THE BENEFICIARY?” Let’s run for a good cause guys!

The Beneficiary:

Before anything else, I did some research to find out more about the HERO foundation. In a nutshell, this foundation gives the children of soldiers who have died or are incapacitated a brighter future. This foundation gives the children a chance to education.

Every year as soldiers are killed or incapacitated in action, more and more children are left behind. Orphaned and alone, they cry for your help.

“Since 1986, HERO Inc. has been providing education assistance in the form of stipends to children of Filipino soldiers killed or totally incapacitated in action. Assistance is adequate to help and encourage them to attain a college degree or a vocational course, which can give them a competitive chance in finding a rewarding job,making them productive members of the society.”

“Yamaha president, Mr. Yano-san, promised to donate a total of P1 Million pesos if the race can generate a total of 10,000 runners as participants.”

So there’s something for you to REALLY think about! Imagine how big a change you can make simply by registering for the run! Imagine how many children’s lives will be helped and how many children’s futures will be brighter just for a few bucks and a little time! Be the change that you want to see.
